APF's Parent Education Masterclass: What is the Function?

These presentations explain that all behavior has a purpose, whether it’s seeking attention, avoiding tasks, getting something, or meeting sensory needs. Parents are taught that 'bad behavior' does not mean a 'bad kid.' Instead, behaviors are communication. Guidance is provided on how to respond: reinforce positive behaviors, teach requests for attention or breaks, provide alternatives, and support sensory needs. Parents are encouraged to seek help if behaviors are severe.
